IMAC Business School was merely a concept in late 2006 when some alumni from various IIMs
got together. It was born from the pressing need for a professionally managed Business School,
free from any pressures of the government or any of their agencies as well as be a service to
society rather than a money making racket which many B-Schools today have become. Many of those
present had been for many years been teaching in various Business Schools in India and overseas
and had seen that the gap between the IIMs and the next rung of Business Schools had to be bridged.
G.S Mukund (IIM-C 1968), Rasik Mhatré (IIM-C 1973), Sundar T Raghavachari (IIM-C 1973) and Bharat
Ramaswami (IIM-C 1978) decided that it was the right time and it is the pooled efforts and talents
of these four that today sees the birth of IMAC Business School, which is a trail blazer in the
field of Management Education in India, being the first Business School to be totally managed by
IIMites.
The faculty list as well as the academic council has mainly IIMites, most of them being IITians
also, with 20-30 years of work experience in major companies in India and overseas as well as
reputed and renowned ex-Professors from the IIMs. Many of the faculty are at present teaching
in other leading B-Schools in India including some of the IIMs.
It is our aim to provide management education of the highest quality resembling the IIMs.
While today we do not claim to be anywhere near the IIMs it is our goal that in the years
to come we will be talked about on a comparable basis as the IIMs.
